SINGAPORE –

In an exciting development for cocktail aficionados, three bars from Singapore have made their mark on the 51-100 list of the prestigious 2024 World’s 50 Best Bars, which was unveiled recently. Notably, two of these bars are newcomers to the list!

Released just two weeks ahead of the much-anticipated top 50 list announcement in Madrid, Spain, the 51-100 list showcases the vibrant bar scene in Singapore. Topping the local entries is Cat Bite Club, which has snagged the 56th spot. Located on Duxton Road, this bar has quickly garnered attention for its unique focus on agave and rice spirits. Co-founded in 2023 by cocktail experts Jesse Vida—who previously led the renowned Atlas cocktail bar—and Gabriel Lowe, the former bar manager of Bangkok’s Paradise Lost, Cat Bite Club is already making waves in the industry.

Rising to the 67th position is Native, a bar that has moved up from its previous rank of 83rd in 2022. Nestled in Amoy Street, Native prides itself on serving cocktails and cuisine that feature authentic Southeast Asian ingredients and tastes.

In 74th place is Night Hawk, situated on Tanjong Pagar Road. This fresh player in the bar scene, which opened its doors in 2022, also achieved notable recognition by ranking 16th in the Asia’s 50 Best Bars for 2024, demonstrating its rapid ascent.

Singapore remains the Asian hub with the most bars featured on the 51-100 list, proudly holding the lead over other countries. The global leaderboard is topped by the United States, boasting seven entries. The list itself draws from a rich tapestry of bars situated in 35 different cities worldwide, with Hong Kong, Japan, and Thailand each claiming two spots.

Just last year, three bars from Singapore found themselves featured in the top 50: Jigger & Pony at Amara Hotel (14th), Sago House in Duxton Hill (32nd), and Atlas at Parkview Square (48th). Meanwhile, bars like Analogue Initiative, 28 HongKong Street, Manhattan, and Nutmeg & Clove made the 51-100 list in 2023 and are in contention for a spot in the top 50, set to be revealed on October 22.

Notably, Analogue Initiative, which ranked 78th in last year's list, will close its beloved location at Chijmes after November 15. The event leading to its closure has already stirred conversations among its loyal patrons.

The annual ranking, managed by the esteemed British media company William Reed, is determined by an international panel of over 700 drinks experts—including bartenders and writers—who cast votes based on their best bar experiences in the preceding 18 months.

Last year, in a historic move, the World’s 50 Best Bars awards ceremony was held in Singapore, marking the first occasion the event took place outside of Europe. With increased visibility on the global stage, Singapore's cocktail culture is set to flourish even further!

Stay tuned for the upcoming announcement of the top 50 bars. Will Singapore shine brighter?
