Stunning New Image of Comet C/2023 A3 Tsuchinshan-ATLAS Captured!
In an exciting astronomical achievement, the Virtual Telescope Project has unveiled a breathtaking image of comet C/2023 A3 Tsuchinshan-ATLAS, taken under the almost full Moon. This stunning image was captured using their advanced large field-of-view astrograph, which expertly tracked the comet's rapid motion across the sky.
The photograph is a composite of ten 120-second exposures, skillfully obtained remotely with sophisticated equipment including the Samyang 135mm lens and ZWO ASI 6200MC Pro camera, all mounted on a Paramount ME robotic unit. The imaging took place in Manciano, Italy, known for its pristine, dark skies which enhance astronomical observations.
The field of view of the image spans approximately 18 degrees by 11 degrees, providing an expansive view filled with the vibrant backdrop of the Summer Milky Way, which is dotted with countless stars and interstellar dust. The bright Moon, positioned opposite the comet, adds a contrast that highlights the comet's intriguing structure.
Currently, C/2023 A3 Tsuchinshan-ATLAS is traversing a dense area of the Summer Milky Way, making it an exciting target for ongoing observation. The team at the Virtual Telescope Project is dedicated to continuously monitoring this captivating comet, offering astronomy enthusiasts the chance to witness its journey across our night sky.
