Tragic Accident Claims Life of SBS Bus Driver in Kaki Bukit: 5 Passengers Hospitalized

SINGAPORE: A heartbreaking incident unfolded on the evening of November 21 when a bus driver for SBS Transit lost his life in a tragic accident at Kaki Bukit. The 58-year-old driver was found unconscious at the scene and, despite immediate medical attention, succumbed to his injuries shortly after arriving at the hospital.

In addition to the driver, five male passengers, aged between 26 and 38, were also injured in the collision and subsequently taken to the hospital for medical care. The police and Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) responded promptly after receiving alerts about the accident shortly after 11 PM.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the bus may have "self-skidded" at the junction of Kaki Bukit Avenue 2 and Kaki Bukit Road 1, ultimately crashing headfirst into a tree. We are deeply saddened by his passing as he was a very good and helpful bus captain. We have extended our deepest condolences to his family and are providing them with our fullest support and assistance during this very difficult time,” she said.

Mrs. Wu reassured that the well-being of the injured passengers remained a top priority for SBS Transit. She noted that company representatives were at the hospital to offer support and monitor the passengers' recoveries.

As the investigation continues, SBS Transit is cooperating fully with the police to ascertain the cause of the accident. The Ministry of Manpower (MOM) has also been contacted for further information regarding safety measures and protocols for bus operations in light of this tragic event.
