On January 8th, a horrifying incident unfolded in Johor Bahru’s Taman Setia Indah as a 40-year-old man was shot dead while enjoying lunch with friends at a local restaurant. Witnesses report that the attack occurred just after noon, leaving the community in shock and mourning.

According to Johor state police chief M. Kumar, the victim suffered from four gunshot wounds. Eyewitnesses recalled a scene of chaos as the gunfire erupted without warning. “I heard three loud bangs and initially thought it was just people playing with fireworks,” said a nearby workshop worker who wished to remain anonymous. “Then I saw the man lying on the ground in front of the restaurant.”

Emergency Response

The victim was dining outside the establishment on Jalan Setia 3/2 when he was struck. Emergency services were promptly notified by a resident who called the Malaysian Emergency Response Services hotline, and the victim was later pronounced dead at Sultan Ismail Hospital.
