HANOI: A New Era of Trade Begins!

In a significant development that could reshape economic ties, Vietnam and the United States have agreed to commence negotiations on a reciprocal trade agreement. This announcement comes hot on the heels of President Trump's decision to postpone imposing hefty tariffs on Vietnam, a move that has sent ripples through the Southeast Asian manufacturing giant.

As the largest export market for Vietnam in the first quarter of the year, the stakes were high. President Trump had initially threatened a staggering 46% duty on Vietnamese imports as part of a broader trade offensive. Vietjet is set to receive its first batch of Boeing 737 MAX aircraft this year, marking a continuation of its ambitious US$24 billion agreement from 2019.
