In a thrilling twist before the GT World Challenge Europe's dramatic season opener at Paul Ricard, powerhouses Mercedes-AMG and Lamborghini have been hit with weight increases. This pre-race Balance of Performance adjustment is shaking up the competition, while Aston Martin, Audi, and Ferrari are enjoying lighter rides!

A bulletin released by the SRO Motorsports Group on Saturday revealed that the mighty Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo, which dominated the front-row lockout during qualifying, has felt the sting of an additional ten kilograms—now tipping the scales at 1350 kilograms!

Similarly, the Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO2 faces the same fate, now also officially weighing in at 1350 kilograms, impacting its performance during the grueling six-hour race.

On the flip side, the adjustments work in favor of three other manufacturers. Aston Martin steals the spotlight, gaining the most significant benefit with a weight reduction that sees their cars drop from 1305 to a nimble 1290 kilograms, shaving off 15 kilograms!

Audi and Ferrari are also reaping the rewards of these adjustments, each enjoying a crucial ten-kilogram reduction, bringing their race weights to 1295 and 1315 kilograms, respectively.

As the sun rises over Paul Ricard, the stakes are higher than ever. Will the weight changes boost Aston Martin, Audi, and Ferrari to victory, or will the heavier contenders rise to the challenge? The countdown to the race has officially begun!
