SINGAPORE – Yishun Avenue 7 is once again grappling with nature’s fury as a heavy downpour on April 21 triggered a flash flood, marking the area’s third inundation in just nine days!

The National Water Agency, PUB, reported the crisis around 3:30 PM and quickly dispatched teams to assist those impacted. The flood occurred near the busy intersection of Yishun Street 22, disrupting daily life for many residents.

Shockingly, this was only the second day in a row that Singapore faced flash floods, with the previous day seeing dramatic water accumulation in several parts of Bukit Timah. Just like clockwork, flash flood risk warnings were issued for 18 locations across the city, including the likes of Orchard Road and Toa Payoh.

Yishun Avenue 7 has become a hotspot for flooding, with previous incidents recorded on April 13 and 15, both near the intersection with Yishun Street 22, raising alarms among locals.

The Meteorological Service Singapore (MSS) forewarned residents of continuing thundery showers expected in the afternoons—and sometimes evenings—over the next few days.

April has been a rollercoaster of extreme weather, featuring substantial rainfall since the month’s onset. The highest single-day rainfall of 117mm was registered on April 13 in the Yishun Ring Road area, marking it as the wettest day of the month.

Curiously, despite the relentless rains, temperatures have soared, with nine days this month hitting over 34°C. The pinnacle of the heat was a blistering 36.2°C at Paya Lebar on April 12, not far from Singapore's all-time high of 37°C.

Amid the chaos, the MSS reported that much of Singapore experienced above-average rainfall in early April. Yio Chu Kang Road saw an astonishing 217% increase above normal levels!

As Yishun continues to face unpredictable weather challenges, residents are left questioning: will this wet spell ever end, or are more floods lurking around the corner?
