Mary Beattie, the 80-year-old owner, expressed her heartache over the situation. "I can’t fight that," she stated, emphasizing that the legal costs associated with an appeal would outweigh her income from the bar in that time.

The commission's inquiry alleges that the bar served alcohol to the patron even after he appeared visibly intoxicated, which would be a violation of the Liquor Licence and Control Act.
