Ottawa is bracing for another round of winter weather as a freezing rain warning previously in effect has now been lifted following a tumultuous rainstorm that swept across eastern Ontario on Tuesday.
According to Environment Canada, residents experienced around 2 mm of freezing rain overnight, with light flurries making an appearance in downtown Ottawa on Tuesday morning. As the snow and rain move out, the Ottawa Student Transportation Consortium (OSTA) has confirmed that all school bus services are operating, albeit with potential delays. Most buses across eastern Ontario are also expected to adhere to their regular schedules, although parents and guardians are advised to stay informed.
The forecast for Tuesday morning anticipates the freezing rain and rain to taper off around noon, with a 30 percent chance of rain showers later in the afternoon. Temperatures are projected to reach a high of 5°C.
However, the winter weather isn't done yet! Residents can expect a variety of wintry conditions. Tonight is likely to remain overcast with temperatures dropping to a low of -1°C. Wednesday is expected to stay cloudy, along with a high of 4°C.
As the week progresses, expect more flurries, with a 30 percent chance of daytime flurries on Thursday, and a 40 percent likelihood of snow by evening, making travel conditions potentially tricky. The forecast for Friday is equally chilly with a 40 percent chance of flurries and a high of 0°C.
Looking ahead, the weekend will bring equally gloomy skies with more flurries, reinforcing the necessity for residents to stay safe and prepared for enhanced winter conditions.
