Mobile Primary Care Clinics Set to Assist Residents in Dartmouth and Lower Sackville!

In a bid to enhance healthcare accessibility, Nova Scotia Health is rolling out mobile primary care clinics in Dartmouth and Lower Sackville. Mark your calendars for these vital clinic dates:

Cobequid Community Health Centre

Location: 40 Freer Lane, Lower Sackville

Dates: - Saturday, November 23 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. - Sunday, November 24 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Dartmouth Mobile Primary Care Clinic

Location: 380 Portland Street (Dartmouth South Primary Care Clinic)

Dates: - Saturday, November 23 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. - Sunday, November 24 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

These drop-in clinics are designed for those with mild or moderate health concerns and are part of a temporary service to meet increased demands for primary care. Upon arrival, visitors will answer a quick set of questions to determine their needs, and if eligible, will receive a screening for acute viral respiratory infections, along with an estimated wait time for treatment.

Important Update: The Dartmouth clinic has recently relocated from the Tacoma Family Medicine Clinic to the Dartmouth South Primary Care Clinic, ensuring a more suitable environment for healthcare delivery.

It's crucial to remember that this initiative is not a replacement for your regular doctor or nurse practitioner. If you have a primary care provider, it’s recommended to check with them first for any same-day appointments. However, should you be unable to reach your provider or need immediate assistance, this mobile clinic offers an excellent alternative.

Services Offered:

The clinic will focus on addressing non-urgent, low-acuity health issues, including but not limited to: - Prescription refills (excluding controlled substances) - Minor respiratory symptoms - Sore throat and earaches - Fever and headache - Rashes and minor gastrointestinal issues such as nausea or diarrhea - Cough, flu, or cold symptoms - Urinary tract infections - Muscle pain

Note: The clinic does not provide lab tests or imaging requisitions, nor is it equipped to handle emergencies. In case of urgent medical needs, please call 911 or head to the nearest emergency department.

For those seeking alternative healthcare options, Nova Scotians can utilize VirtualCareNS, a free service offering temporary access to primary health care. Simply visit www.virtualcarens.ca to register or schedule a virtual consultation. Additionally, for general health advice, you can call 811, available 24/7 with registered nurses ready to assist. Mental health support is also accessible around the clock at the Mental Health and Addictions Crisis Line by calling 1-888-429-8167.

Stay informed about future clinic dates and locations by checking back regularly. Your health is our priority, and we're here to provide you with the best possible care!
