April is Public Health Week in Canada!
From April 7-11, 2025, communities across Canada come together to celebrate Public Health Week, shining a spotlight on the tireless efforts of public health professionals dedicated to enhancing our health and well-being. This week, the NTHSSA is honoring the unsung heroes who are making a significant impact in the Northwest Territories (NWT). Today, we turn our attention to the remarkable Lovely Casbadillo, a beacon of hope in the Sahtu Region!
Meet Lovely Casbadillo: Champion of Community Health!
As a Regional Community Health Nurse (CHN) specializing in Public Health, Lovely is at the forefront of health initiatives across the Sahtu, which includes Norman Wells, Tulita, Deline, Fort Good Hope, and Colville Lake. Her unwavering dedication is evident as she supports communities during health outbreaks, advocates for immunizations, and ensures that residents are informed about essential public health updates and recommendations from the Territorial Public Health Office.
A Journey from the Philippines to the NWT!
Originally hailing from the Philippines, Lovely has embraced her new life in the NWT for over four years now. Captivated by the breathtaking landscapes, the mesmerizing aurora borealis, and the richness of community spirit, she proudly considers the territory her home. When she's not working to improve public health, you can find her nurturing her collection of plants, indulging in needlework and beading, or enjoying peaceful riverside strolls with her beloved dog.

Lovely Casbadillo's commitment and passion for community health serve as a reminder of the vital role public health workers play in our lives. Let's celebrate her contributions and those of countless others during this Public Health Week!
