Why should you get a Pap test?

According to the Canadian Cancer Society, individuals with a cervix who are sexually active should start getting Pap tests by the age of 21. The procedure is straightforward, and it plays a crucial role in detecting cervical cell changes that could lead to cancer if left untreated. Regular testing allows for early intervention, which can significantly increase treatment efficacy.

It’s important to note that around 10% of those who undergo Pap testing may receive an abnormal result. If this happens, healthcare providers will follow up to discuss the necessary next steps.

Can't make it to a clinic?

If you can’t make it to one of the designated dates, don’t worry! You can schedule a Pap test at any time throughout the year through your primary health care provider or by calling one of the province-wide numbers available on the Cancer Care website: Eastern Health Cervical Screening Program.

Take charge of your health—don't wait for symptoms to appear! Schedule your Pap test today and empower yourself with the knowledge that can make a life-saving difference.
