In a strategic move, Inter Miami CF has officially signed 33-year-old forward Fafà Picault, who will be under contract through 2025, with an option to extend for the 2026 season. Picault made a name for himself last year with the Vancouver Whitecaps FC, where he scored 9 goals and provided 5 assists in 29 appearances, finishing as the team's third-leading scorer.
Raúl Sanllehí, Inter Miami's president of football operations, expressed enthusiasm about Picault's addition, stating, "We’re excited to welcome Fafa to Inter Miami CF. We believe that his pace, skill, and proven MLS track record can bring valuable quality and experience to our front lines. We’re looking forward to having him with us to enhance our attacking options as we aim for success across multiple competitions in 2025."
Proven Performances and Past Experience
Picault's move to Inter Miami marks his sixth MLS club since returning to the United States in 2017. His previous stints include FC Dallas, Houston Dynamo FC, Nashville SC, and Philadelphia Union, alongside his time at FC St. Pauli in Germany. Over 224 MLS matches, he has totaled an impressive 56 goals and 28 assists, showcasing his ability to consistently be a threat on the field.
On the international front, Picault has represented Haiti, scoring once in 14 appearances since his debut at the 2023 Concacaf Gold Cup. Notably, he also played two friendlies for the United States before committing to Haiti.
Picault shared his excitement about joining Inter Miami, stating, "I’m deeply honored to join an ambitious club like Inter Miami CF. Representing this badge and playing for the incredible fan base this organization has built locally, nationally, and internationally is a dream come true. I’m eager to meet my teammates and work together toward a historic 2025 campaign. Returning to South Florida—a place I proudly call home—gives me the chance to be closer to my family and childhood friends while bringing excitement to this passionate fútbol community."
High Expectations Ahead
As Inter Miami gears up for the 2025 season, they enter as record-setting Supporters' Shield champions after earning 74 points last season. However, their playoff journey ended disappointingly in Round One against Eastern Conference No. 9 seed Atlanta United.
With new head coach Javier Mascherano at the helm, their season kicks off with a pivotal match against Sporting Kansas City on February 18 in the Concacaf Champions Cup. They will then face New York City FC for their MLS season opener on February 22.
As fans gear up for an exciting season, the addition of Picault is seen as a critical step in strengthening Inter Miami’s attacking prowess. Stay tuned as we follow their journey in what promises to be a thrilling 2025 campaign!
