Attention concert enthusiasts! Toronto Public Health (TPH) has issued a critical warning for anyone who attended a performance at the Coca-Cola Coliseum on April 1.

During the event, featuring artist Forrest Frank, an out-of-town visitor infected with measles was present. TPH estimates that attendees between 5:30 PM and midnight could have potentially been exposed to this highly contagious virus.

This year alone, TPH has reported two confirmed measles cases associated with international travel, underscoring the rising concern about the outbreak. If you were there, it's crucial to check your vaccination status to ensure you’re safeguarded against measles.

Be on the lookout for symptoms that typically manifest within 21 days, including fever, runny nose, persistent cough, and a distinctive red rash that begins on the face and spreads. Don’t overlook the warning signs inside your mouth; Koplik spots, which are tiny blue-white lesions, can also indicate infection.

In an alarming trend, Ontario reported 155 new measles cases in just one week, bringing the total since last fall's outbreak to a staggering 816. TPH reveals that 61 individuals have been hospitalized, with three requiring intensive care—the overwhelming majority being unimmunized children.

Toronto residents should also take note of other potential exposures in the city, including incidents at Fantasy Fair on March 30, Pizzeria Libretto on March 21, and VIA Rail routes from Toronto to London on that same date.

If you suspect that you might have contracted measles, don’t hesitate: reach out to a healthcare provider immediately. The health and safety of our community depend on swift action!
