Shocking Arrest: California Man Charged for Smuggling Weapons to North Korea!

In a startling revelation, a Chinese national residing in California has been apprehended by federal authorities for allegedly orchestrating the unlawful shipment of weapons and ammunition to North Korea. Shenghua Wen, 41, reportedly received approximately $2 million from the North Korean regime to facilitate these exports.

Federal agents executed a raid in September, seizing a staggering 50,000 rounds of ammunition from a van outside Wen's residence in Ontario. In an affidavit, the investigation claims that Wen indicated he procured these munitions "at the direction of North Korean government officials." Interestingly, Wen reportedly entered the United States on a student visa in 2012, which expired the following year. The Justice Department revealed that after his visa expired, he illegally remained in the country. An analysis of Wen's iPhone by the FBI uncovered a trove of incriminating evidence, including emails and texts discussing plans to obtain a civilian plane engine, which, according to Wen, would aid in advancing North Korea's military drone capabilities. He allegedly admitted that North Korea aimed to utilize these resources for potential military action against South Korea.

In a chilling twist, the FBI also discovered numerous images of individuals in U.S. military uniforms on Wen's device. He purportedly indicated that North Korea sought to acquire military uniforms to orchestrate a surprise assault on South Korea.

Compounding his troubles, in 2018 Wen was ordered to be removed from the United States, while records show he had been previously arrested in 2021 for his immigration status, acknowledging his unlawful stay.
