The Initial Raid

At the end of August, officers from the Surrey RCMP conducted a thorough search at a residence on Industrial Road, just north of King George Boulevard. The operation was executed with the assistance of the Lower Mainland Integrated Emergency Response Team, revealing a shocking stash: over a dozen firearms, a staggering amount of ammunition, $10,000 in cash, illegal magazines, stolen vehicles, radio jammers, and an alarming 30 pounds of explosives.

As a result of the first raid, 12 individuals were arrested—marking a significant breakthrough in ongoing investigations into drug trafficking and illegal arms possession. Following the initial discovery, investigators returned to the scene on September 10 after observing further evidence of trafficking. During this follow-up raid, they seized methamphetamine, cannabis, prescription opioids, various pills, a silencer, long guns, two crossbows, and additional cash.

Nigel Pronger expressed grave concern over the find, stating, “The sheer volume of drugs, firearms, and explosives located by police inside this fortified unit, which is situated above a business frequented by the public, may represent one of the most dangerous situations I have encountered in my career in Surrey.” He emphasized the need for robust actions against such blatant threats to community safety.

Parallel Investigation in Burnaby

In a parallel investigation in Burnaby, four individuals have been charged following an extensive year-long probe into firearms related offenses. The suspects, comprising two men and two women, face serious charges including trafficking of controlled substances and possession of prohibited weapons. Authorities confiscated nearly $15,000 in cash, a stolen handgun, ammunition, a silencer, and almost one kilogram of illicit drugs during associated searches.

Sgt. Randy Mortensen remarked, “The sheer volume of drugs and weapons taken off our streets as a direct result of these operations is substantial. Our Drugs and Organized Crime Section remains dedicated to combating the illicit drug trade and the violence it breeds.”
