SUN PEAKS, B.C. — In a heartbreaking turn of events, the search for missing 68-year-old skier Tomasz Jaholkowski has concluded tragically at Sun Peaks Resort.
On December 12, the Tk’emlúps Rural RCMP confirmed that Jaholkowski's body was discovered near the ski resort. Details regarding the exact location of the recovery have not been released, but it has been noted that he was found 'outside the ski-area boundary.'
RCMP Staff Sgt. Janelle Shoihet indicated that the authorities do not suspect any criminal involvement in Jaholkowski's death. “The BC Coroners Service has been notified and is investigating further,” she stated.
Jaholkowski was last seen around 11:35 a.m. on December 10, standing in line at the West Bowl chairlift on Tod Mountain. Concern arose when he did not return to his hotel room later that day, leading to the initiation of a comprehensive multi-day search. This extensive effort involved the RCMP, local search and rescue volunteers, and the Sun Peaks Ski Patrol.
