In a disturbing incident that unfolded Wednesday afternoon, Manitoba's police watchdog is now looking into a fatal officer-involved shooting in Winnipeg. The chaotic scene began around 12:30 PM when police received multiple 911 calls reporting a man armed with edged weapons in an apartment building located in the 800 block of Main Street.

Upon arrival, Winnipeg police found the suspect reportedly swinging the weapons and banging on the doors of tenants. According to Acting Chief Art Stannard, the situation escalated quickly as the man confronted the officers in the hallway.

In an attempt to subdue the man, law enforcement utilized a Taser, but it was not enough to halt the confrontation. Tragically, officers then shot the suspect, who was quickly transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition. Despite medical intervention, he succumbed to his injuries later.
