Urgent Vaccination Call: Protect Yourself This Winter Against COVID-19 and the Flu!

As the chilling winter season draws near, a wave of viruses and respiratory infections is expected to sweep through communities. In response, the CISSS des Laurentides health authority is sounding the alarm, urging all residents of Argenteuil to arm themselves against these threats by getting vaccinated against COVID-19 and influenza.

Kicking off on October 16, the Laurentides vaccination campaign will offer both the flu and COVID-19 vaccines completely free to everyone. Additionally, for certain high-risk groups, the pneumococcal vaccine will also be available at no cost. This proactive measure is critical for individuals most vulnerable to serious complications from respiratory infections.

Who Should Get Vaccinated?

Residents of long-term care facilities or centers for seniors, as well as those in communal settings with a high population of elderly or vulnerable individuals.

Individuals aged 60 and above.

Those who are immunocompromised, on dialysis, or managing chronic conditions.

Pregnant women and parents of infants under six months.

Healthcare workers on the front lines.

Adults living in remote or isolated areas.

Starting October 16, the general public can also book their appointments for vaccinations. To ensure a smooth process, vaccinations will be available at all local service points throughout the region and select community pharmacies. The convenience of receiving both the COVID-19 and flu vaccines in one visit further highlights the dedication to public health.

In addition to vaccines, the Direction de santé publique des Laurentides emphasizes the importance of adhering to preventive measures. Regular handwashing, minimizing contact with others, and wearing a mask if symptomatic can significantly reduce the spread of these viruses. If you experience a fever, it’s advisable to stay home and rest.
