This past weekend, the skies lit up as April's full moon graced the world, captivating skywatchers with a breathtaking display.

Dubbed the Pink Moon or Paschal Moon, this month's phenomenon was particularly special as it marked the smallest full moon of 2025. The moon reached its peak illumination while at apogee—the furthest point in its orbit from Earth—earning it the catchy nickname of "micromoon." While the size difference might be subtle to the naked eye, the moon's radiant glow made for stunning scenery that photographers and moon enthusiasts couldn't resist.

Interestingly, despite its name, the Pink Moon isn’t actually pink! The moniker comes from the vibrant moss pink flower, which is one of the first blooms of spring.

Photographers from every corner of the globe shared their striking captures of this celestial event. Robbie Pesiwarissa, shooting from a park in Sydney, Australia, highlighted the serene backdrop of Archibald Memorial Fountain and the majestic Saint Mary's Cathedral. "It was nature, architecture, and celestial wonder blended perfectly, creating a moment to cherish amid Sydney's hustle and bustle," Pesiwarissa shared.

In the U.K., photographer Josh Dury took a chance on the delightful weather, capturing local balloon flights gliding past the moon above the Mendip Hills in Somerset.

Italian photographer Lorenzo Di Cola expertly framed the Pink Moon rising behind the historic Rocca Calascio castle and the Santa Maria della Pietà church. His keen eye also caught a picturesque shot from another vantage point in Calascio.

Amidst the artistic endeavors, even statues seemed to converge towards the Pink Moon—like one statue at Charles Bridge in Prague, Czech Republic.

In Florida, Lisa Shislowski showcased the moon over Deerfield Beach, saying, "The sky was like cotton candy, and the moon felt grand even as a micromoon. It made for a beautiful city scene!"

In Germany, Kirill Kudryavtsev captured an airplane soaring past the Pink Moon above Frankfurt. Meanwhile, Davide Pischettola shared an enchanting view of the moon rising behind Molfetta Cathedral in Italy.

Photographer Tayfun Coskun presented a stunning shot of the moon shining brightly behind the iconic Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco.

Not to be overwhelmed by clouds, Gary Hershorn immortalized a dramatic scene of the full moon rising behind the Statue of Liberty in New York City.

Another breathtaking image from the Big Apple featured the moon illuminating Midtown Manhattan, captured by Lokman Vural Elibol.

With its enchanting glow and picturesque settings across the globe, April's Pink Moon will be remembered as a spectacular highlight for skywatchers and photographers alike.
