Maximilian Maeder Dominates the KiteFoil World Series, Claims Overall Championship!

SINGAPORE – In a thrilling finale to the 2024 KiteFoil World Series, Singapore's very own Maximilian Maeder emerged victorious on October 5, clinching the overall champion title after a stellar performance in Italy.

At just 18 years old, Maeder has taken the kitefoiling world by storm. Following his impressive victory at the series opener in Austria just a month prior, his win in Cagliari secured him back-to-back overall titles, solidifying his status as a rising star in the sport.

Reflecting on his incredible journey this season, which kicked off in February, Maeder shared during the event's live stream, “The start of the season feels like two years ago, so much has happened since then and here we are. It’s only been 10 months, that’s crazy to me.” His enthusiasm is palpable and a testament to his dedication.

Competing from the beautiful Poetto beach in Cagliari, Maeder dominated the initial rounds, concluding the opening series as the frontrunner with a remarkable 16 points, edging out French rival Axel Mazella by two points. The competition was fierce, with renowned kitefoilers such as Switzerland’s Gian Stragiotti and Britain’s Connor Bainbridge rounding out the final contenders.

As the leading qualifier, Maeder entered the grand final with a solid advantage of two match points. With determination and skill, he wasted no time, securing victory in the first race of this high-stakes showdown, which was set in a first-to-three wins format.

This crowning achievement marks Maeder's third consecutive prestigious title. Following his bronze medal win at the Paris Olympics in August, he has also celebrated victories at the Austrian Championships and the Formula Kite Asian Championships held in Daishan, China, on September 22.

But the excitement doesn’t stop here! Maximilian Maeder is gearing up for the next leg of his thrilling journey—the Formula Kite Youth European Championships in Sardinia, scheduled for October 7-13. As he continues to make waves in the kitefoiling scene, all eyes will undoubtedly be on this young champion as he strives for more victories and aims to inspire the next generation of kitefoilers.

Stay tuned for more updates on his incredible journey! Will Maeder continue his winning streak? Only time will tell!
