Sony Revolutionizes PlayStation Portal with Exciting Cloud Streaming Update!

Sony is taking gaming to the next level by integrating a highly anticipated cloud streaming feature into the PlayStation Portal. Initially, the device restricted users to streaming games solely from their PS5 consoles over Wi-Fi, but following a recent update, players will now have the ability to stream select PS5 titles directly from the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog.

This feature, currently in beta testing, is exclusive to PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers. In order to enjoy cloud streaming at 720p resolution, players will need a minimum internet speed of 7 Mbps, while those aiming for the enhanced 1080p quality must ensure their connection can handle at least 13 Mbps.

However, it's important to note that some PlayStation Plus features will not be available during the initial phase of this cloud streaming functionality. Users will miss out on features such as Game Trials, party voice chat, game invitations for specific titles, 3D audio, and “in-game commerce.” Additionally, streaming options will be restricted to PS5 games; unfortunately, titles from PS4 or PS3 will not be supported. Moreover, child accounts will not be able to access cloud streaming on the Portal.

The beta rollout of this new feature is set to be available across various countries, including Austria, Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States, among others.

For those who may not be familiar, Sony had previously launched cloud streaming on PS5 consoles in the past year, which has received positive feedback from users. Alongside the cloud streaming enhancement for the PlayStation Portal, this latest update also brings notable audio adjustments, featuring a lower minimum volume level and improved settings management for PlayStation Link devices directly through the Portal's settings interface.
