A Disturbing Scene at Ang Mo Kio
In a surprising incident that raised eyebrows and hygiene concerns, a man was spotted allowing his unleashed dog to roam freely inside a coffee shop at Block 232 Ang Mo Kio Avenue 3.
Witness Account Raises Alarm
Eyewitness Jimmy shared his shock over the April 10 encounter at around 2:15 PM, noting that no one attempted to intervene.
"The man was casually dressed in a white singlet, completely disregarding the 'no pets' policy clearly stated in the establishment," Jimmy stated.
"It’s so unhygienic! Everyone just stared at the dog, unsure how to react."
What the Rules Say: Pets in Dining Areas
While many might be tempted to bring their furry friends along, the Singapore Food Agency (SFA) has clear regulations: pets are allowed in Outdoor Refreshment Areas (ORAs) only. ORAs are designated outside spaces that don’t require entry through the main dining areas.
However, the regulations are strict for hawker centres and their outdoor spaces, where pets remain strictly prohibited to maintain cleanliness in communal dining settings.
A Call for Awareness and Responsibility
This incident serves as a reminder for pet owners to be mindful of public health regulations. As charming as our pets may be, ensuring the hygiene of shared spaces remains a top priority for everyone.
