In the emotional new drama "We Live in Time," produced by A24, viewers are invited to explore a relationship's evolution over two decades, filled with both passionate highs and devastating lows. The film features a stunning portrayal by Andrew Garfield as Tobias and Florence Pugh as Almut, whose love story faces extraordinary challenges, including a life-altering cancer diagnosis.

During an appearance on the popular Happy Sad Confused podcast, Andrew Garfield shared a particularly amusing and revealing moment from filming one of the movie’s most intimate scenes. He described how he and Pugh became so engrossed in their roles that they inadvertently extended a passionate scene beyond the intended duration!

“The scene becomes passionate as we choreographed it,” Garfield noted, elaborating on how it all began when his character Tobias is struck by Almut's car, leading to their unexpected and complicated love story. Over the years, this love matures, leading to a child together, only to be disrupted by a shocking cancer diagnosis that challenges their idyllic life.

Garfield continued, recounting the comedic mishap that unfolded on set: "As we got into the rhythm of the scene, we both kind of thought, ‘Isn't this feeling like a longer take?’ We were so focused and comfortable that we just kept going, not realizing we hadn’t heard ‘cut’ yet.”

In a unique closed-set arrangement with only Cinematographer Stuart Bentley and boom operator Chris Murphy present, the atmosphere was designed to foster a safe and creative environment. However, the dedication to their craft became evident when Garfield looked up to see the crew's reactions. "I noticed Stuart turned away against the wall as if he needed a moment to breathe!" he laughed.

Beyond the onscreen chemistry, the intensity of “We Live in Time” also required deep emotional preparation. Both stars recognized their responsibilities in portraying sensitive themes such as cancer and grief with utmost respect. Florence Pugh, committed to her role, even went as far as shaving her head to authentically embody the complexities of her character’s journey.

"We want to tell this story in a way that honors those who have lived through these experiences,” Pugh stated, emphasizing the importance of real-life representation in their performances.

As "We Live in Time" gears up for its release, audiences can expect a raw, realistic look at love amidst life’s greatest challenges. With Garfield and Pugh's commitment to their craft, this film promises to touch hearts while driving home the message of resilience in love. Don’t miss it!
