Head coach Derek Lalonde indicated that the team plans to begin the season with 12 forwards in Detroit, meaning Watson may start with the Grand Rapids Griffins.

Top Prospects Reassigned

This move came alongside the reassignment of top prospects Marco Kasper and Nate Danielson back to the AHL. Kasper, the eighth overall pick in the 2022 NHL Draft, impressed during the exhibition season, showcasing skills that could easily place him in the NHL lineup. Lalonde noted, “They had a really good camp, and Marco really stood out among the young talents.”
