This past weekend, the skies around the globe were graced by the breathtaking sight of April's Full Moon, affectionately known as the Pink Moon. This month's lunar event was particularly special, marking the smallest full moon of 2025, often referred to as a "micromoon" due to its positioning at apogee—the farthest point in its orbit from Earth.

While the difference in size may be subtle to the naked eye, the moon's enchanting glow provided a spectacular canvas for photographers and moon enthusiasts everywhere. Interestingly enough, despite its name, the Pink Moon doesn’t actually appear pink; it derives its name from the vibrant moss pink flower, one of the first blooms of spring.

Photographers from various corners of the world couldn’t resist capturing this celestial marvel. In Sydney, Australia, photographer Robbie Pesiwarissa immortalized the moment at the iconic Archibald Memorial Fountain, with Saint Mary’s Cathedral serving as a stunning backdrop. Pesiwarissa described the scene as a "serene pause in the bustling life of Sydney," highlighting the beautiful harmony of nature, architecture, and the night sky.

In Italy, the Pink Moon rose gracefully behind Rocca Calascio castle and the Santa Maria della Pietà church, expertly captured by Lorenzo Di Cola, who shared another breathtaking angle from the picturesque region.

Farther afield, in Prague, the Full Moon appeared to playfully interact with a statue at Charles Bridge, a testament to the enchanting charm it cast over the historical city.

Meanwhile, in Deerfield Beach, Florida, Lisa Shislowski remarked on the moon’s grandeur, stating, "Even though it was considered a micromoon, it still seemed somewhat larger as it emerged in the sky," against a backdrop of a pastel-hued sky reminiscent of cotton candy.
