NASA's own Anne McClain and Nichole Ayers made headlines by upgrading two spacesuits with cutting-edge display and control modules inside the Quest airlock. These new liquid crystal electronics provide real-time diagnostics, ensuring astronauts receive instant updates on the performance of their suits during those exhilarating spacewalks. As the mission nears its conclusion, Don Pettit is busy transferring responsibilities to the fresh recruits and illustrating the use of the advanced resistive exercise device—a critical tool for preserving muscle and bone health in a weightless environment.

Countdown to Return!

Station Commander Alexey Ovchinin and Flight Engineer Ivan Vagner, who launched on September 11, 2024, are in the midst of rehearsals for their anticipated return on April 19 aboard Soyuz MS-26. The crew will depart from the Rassvet module and aim for a safe landing in Kazakhstan, wrapping up Expedition 72.

Participating in Student Experiments!

Earlier, Pettit took part in a fascinating experiment crafted by students, investigating the melting behavior of frozen droplets made from diverse solutions in the extraordinary environment of space. He also conducted ultrasound scans on JAXA astronaut Takuya Onishi to explore vascular changes in his neck, shoulders, and legs—crucial for understanding how the human body adapts to the challenges of long-term space travel.

In another corner of the station, Ovchinin, Vagner, and Roscosmos Flight Engineer Kirill Peskov put a revolutionary lower body negative pressure suit to the test.
