Journell, a 56-year-old resident of San Bernardino, had intended to provide his pets with what he believed to be a healthier option, only for those efforts to turn deadly.

Tragic Deaths of Alexander and Tuxsie

Journell's 14-year-old tabby cat, Alexander, and 4-year-old tuxedo cat, Tuxsie, tragically passed away shortly after consuming the contaminated milk. A third cat, Big Boy, was hospitalized due to severe illness and was later confirmed to be infected with the H5N1 virus after testing by the U.S. Agriculture Department and Cornell University.
